Wow, the weather is definitely changing … Cooler mornings … cooler days and cooler nights. The beautiful seasons of our amazing community. This Saturday evening our community and our neighbors will gather together to celebrate our Fall Harvest Season. We are blessed with an amazing little country school, and a community that is truly a special place to live in.

Please join us this Saturday evening at our Valley Home School, from 6 pm until 9 pm, for our annual Valley Home Fall Harvest Festival. Such a special time for all of us to come together. The seasons are very vibrant and are definitely changing. What a beautiful sound it is during this time of year to hear, a “Harvester”, a “Shaker”, a “Sweeper”, or any other farm machinery as they work through an orchard. We are blessed. I have always understood and will be forever grateful that my husband Richard brought our family to Valley Home before his untimely passing. He loved helping create our Valley Home Harvest Festival back in those early years. My heart will smile once again this Saturday.

Megan and her crew will be there very early Saturday morning; they will pull out the well-used carnival games … so many of them my husband Richard worked so hard to build. Every year tender sweet memories keep me company all day long as those games that are so precious to me are set up. What a special day it will be! Delicious food will take care of our hunger, a delightful silent auction will have the most unique and exciting items for all to bid on. Class baskets brimming with treats and very special goodies will call out for us to bid on them. Bingo will be in full swing in our Bonnie Gellerman Gymnasium. Come, bring your friends and family, grab an amazing dinner and sit and enjoy a fun game of Bingo. There will be something for everyone. A rustic Fall Pumpkin Patch will beckon you in to grab your favorite pumpkin. Firefighters, CHP, Sheriffs, and our Veterans will visit with us while enjoying delicious slices of homemade pie. Fluffy sticks of bright pink and neon blue cotton candy, sno cones piled high, fresh hot buttery popcorn will bring a special joy to your evening. Remember to come prepared to join in the Cowboy Ranch Roping … or enjoy watching the cowboy roping from a comfortable seat nearby! Lots of fun for all. Stop by our amazing Petting Zoo, presented by Sierra 4-H and say hello to your favorite. There will be lots of special animals for your enjoyment.

Please remember you are all welcome and encouraged to enter your unique items into the Scarecrow Contest, Carved Pumpkin, Decorated Pumpkin, Biggest Pumpkin or Homemade Pie into our evening contests. Please bring your entry to the school any time before 5:30 pm.

Come have fun with us. Grab your favorite costume and come join the excitement as our costume contestants parade throughout the festivities starting at 7 pm. Our Milk Drinking Contest and our Pie Eating/Pudding Contest will take place in front of the gym starting at 7:15 pm. It is really wild and crazy fun.

Remember to search throughout the festival (up front of gym) during the evening for the hidden Golden Pumpkin. All contest winners will be announced at 8 pm.

As promised last week … this week we will take you inside our Valley Home Haunted Hayride. Join us on this dark scary journey through Valley Home’s forgotten forest and old ghost town. The old forgotten forest gives cover to Agony Bad Bones and his evil cattle stealing brother Luther D. Hannibal. Agony and Luther D. Hannibal are hiding from the law in the old ghost town of River City, just outside of Valley Home. Thomas our driver will creep past huge massive trees, their angry gnarled old branches will desperately try to reach out and grab you as you pass by.

Agony Bad Bones and his cattle stealing brother Luther D. Hannibal are closer than you think. You will also pass by a scene of horrifying man-eating zombies … they are waiting and watching for you to come by … in the deep dark shadows they will attack. You will also experience Old Man TB’s terrifying thrills … finally you will feel the chills that will greet you at the final blood curdling scene. Take a ride if you dare … the Haunted Hay Ride starts at 7:30 pm.

As always you may reach me at winniemullins51@gmail.com.

Until next time, Happy Harvest Trails to All!
