A late afternoon vehicle crash Tuesday sent three people to local hospitals, including a Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office deputy.
The incident occurred about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6. Oakdale Police Department units were dispatched to the area of Yosemite Avenue and E Street for a reported vehicle collision.
Authorities said at the time of the crash, the sheriff’s deputy was traveling northbound on North Yosemite Avenue, approaching the intersection of East E Street. At the same time, a vehicle traveling southbound on North Yosemite made an eastbound turn onto East E Street, turning into the path of the deputy, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles.
The deputy sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment. The other vehicle involved was driven by an adult male and there was a juvenile passenger in the vehicle as well.
The adult male was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The juvenile was initially transported to a local hospital and was reported to be in stable condition. Authorities said though the extent of the juvenile’s injuries are currently unknown, the decision to airlift the juvenile was made.
The collision is under investigation by the Oakdale Police Department Traffic Unit. The investigation remains ongoing, said officials, as further details and evidence are being collected.
