A number of graduating students at Oakdale High School are recognized each year with OHS Alumni and Community Scholarships and this year saw more than 30 recipients honored.

“Community and Memorial Scholarships” of the Friends of OHS Scholarship Fund was first established in 1992 and managed by Phyllis Bordona and Liz Colombo for over nine years.

The Friends of OHS and Alumni Association Committee (chaired by Leo Carillo, Class of ’62) worked together on a very successful Oakdale High School 100th anniversary celebration in October of 1992. Two years later, the Friends of OHS Alumni Scholarship Fund was formed with additional donations and new eligibility criteria.

When the Friends of OHS became the Oakdale High School Academic Boosters in April of 1999 the Alumni and Community Scholarship assets were transferred to an OJUSD special account for OHS student scholarships. Alumni Sylvia Orlando and Josie Ott facilitated the awarding of the scholarships for many years.

The 125th OHS Anniversary/Homecoming Reunion Celebration in October 2018 was a huge success, with hundreds of OHS alumni enjoying the three-day event.

Numerous OHS alumni and community donations are made annually, helping to make a difference in the lives of worthy OHS graduates each year.
