Rain or shine, the Oakdale Christian Academy is ready to being some color to the community’s day this Saturday, April 20 as they host their Third Annual Color Fun Run.

The event is open to the public and will be presented at Kerr Park, 840 N. Stearns Road, Oakdale. Cost for the event is $15 for all ages; with those two and under running for free. Registration includes the one-mile Color Run, a T-shirt, swag bag, a raffle ticket and water. All proceeds from the event benefit Oakdale Christian Academy.

“We’ve had little kids, we’ve had people pushing their babies or we’ve also had adults run it and they’ve run multiple times if they want to run longer than a mile,” Event Coordinator and PLEASE (Parent Lead Enrichment and Student Experience) Team President, Amanda Heard shared. “There’s no limit if you want to do one lap or 10 laps. You can do as many miles as you want to do.”

With goal of 150 participants, Heard shared community residents are encouraged to pre-register to ensure they get a shirt. The event will be hosted from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and runners will be released by heat. Heat times will be 10:15 a.m., 10:45 a.m., and 11:15 a.m.

Onsite registration will open at 9:30 a.m.

“We are raising money for school wide improvements to our playground. We also provide scholarships for families at the school,” Heard said, noting that as a small, private school with over 70 students, a key fundraiser helps the school offset costs for specific needs.

“I just enjoy seeing all the families and the kids,” she said of the overall event. “The kids really love it. It’s a lot of fun for parents, too. I’m not personally a runner but I enjoy attempting to run it every year with my kids and every year everybody walks away with smiles on their faces.”

Once participants have concluded the race course – getting as much or as little color as they choose – they are then welcome to enjoy professional face painting, bounce houses, a bounce house slide, inflatable obstacle course, large yard games and a variety of food vendors.

Pre-registration can be found at oakdalechristian.net under the Events tab.
