Rodeo Mural Coming Next For Cowboy Capital Downtown
mural
This Rodeo Mural was just approved by the Oakdale Planning Commission for the south wall of the downtown H-B Saloon. OakdaleArts is currently working to get funding by March 20 so the artist can be given the go ahead to paint it and have it completed by rodeo weekend, April 9 and 10.

Oakdale is about to get another mural; this one to celebrate the Oakdale Saddle Club Rodeo. The mural features three past legendary local cowboys, Bill Martinelli, Bob Eidson, and Jim Charles, who contributed to Oakdale’s motto: “Cowboy Capital of the World”. The mural will also feature the iconic Bushwacker bull, a three-time bucking bull champion.

The Rodeo mural is 18’ high and 100’ long and will be painted on the south wall of the H-B Saloon on East F Street near the Oakdale Cowboy Museum and bronze cowboy statue.

Joel Aguilar of Livingston, a local Central Valley artist, will be returning to paint this mural.

Working with city staff and the Planning Commission, OakdaleARTS designed this mural to celebrate Oakdale’s Rodeo and city motto. As required by the city, the design went through the process of being presented to the Planning Commission for discussion and approval.

OakdaleARTS relies on generous donations to fund each project and pay the artist. “We would love to get the mural painted in time for this year’s rodeo on April 9 and 10,” OakdaleArts members noted in a statement. “Funds are needed by March 20 to give the artist the go ahead to paint.”
