Region Under Flood Watch Through Midweek
rain

With atmospheric rivers anticipated to bring additional inches of rainfall to the area over the weekend and in to early next week, a flood watch remains in effect from late Saturday night, Jan. 7 through Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 11.

The Northern San Joaquin Valley and Motherlode area included in the flood watch area, in addition to Shasta Lake/Northern Shasta County, Sacramento Valley, Carquinez Strait and Delta, Northeast Foothills of the Sacramento Valley, and the mountains of Southwestern Shasta County to Western Colusa County.

Residents in the watch area are advised to monitor forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain.
