Region Sees Continued Decline In Pump Prices

Average gasoline prices in Modesto have fallen 14.2 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $5.12/gallon as of Monday, Nov. 7, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 201 stations in Modesto. Prices in Modesto are 98.9 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 58.7 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has risen 3.4 cents in the last week and stands at $5.32 per gallon.

According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Modesto was priced at $4.71/gallon while the most expensive was $5.87, a difference of $1.16/gallon. The lowest price in the state on Nov. 7 was $4.16 while the highest was $7.39, a difference of $3.23/gallon.

The national average price of gasoline has risen 6.2 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.78/gallon. The national average is down 11.5 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 37.8 cents per gallon higher than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country.

“Just over half of the nation’s 50 states saw gasoline prices rise last week, pulling the national average back up for the time being due to big jumps in the Great Lakes and continued increases in New England and mid-Atlantic states,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.

Neighboring areas and their current gas prices include: Stockton - $5.04/gallon, down 15.1 cents from $5.19; Oakland - $5.31, down 13.3 cents from last week’s $5.45; and San Jose - $5.40/gallon, down 16.5 cents per gallon from last week’s $5.57/gallon.
