Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 9-3-25

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2. Note: Shifts are in 24-hour time periods, from 5 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Aug. 26 through Monday, Sept. 1. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, SEPT. 1

MST Companies rotated through training on the new CAD system at Station 17.

Battalion 2: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments and conducted Monday apparatus checks and station yard maintenance.

Engine 27 hosted Ceres City Council member Daniel Martinez for a ride along. Crews visited the previous day’s fires and target hazards such as Woodward Reservoir.

12:32 a.m. – ES4615, OES4617, B28, WT27 and Battalion 5 responded along with Cal Fire TCU to a vegetation fire on Highway 108 between Lancaster and Kennedy roads. BC5 arrived on scene to a quarter-acre of vegetation on fire with a slow rate of spread. Crews were able to quickly contain the fire and limit the fire spread. Companies remained on scene for roughly one hour for mop up.

5:28 a.m. – Engine 7, Engine 9, Engine 23, Engine 27, Engine 28, Quint 22, BC2, BC5, and FIU responded to a report of a working structure fire in the 4900 block of Dodds Road. Crews arrived on scene of a fully involved tractor threatening a structure and quickly extinguished the fire preventing any fire spread to the structure.

 

SUNDAY, AUG. 31

MST crews conducted probationary training at Station 17.

Battalion 2: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Battalion 5: Crews conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, and completed mandated Target Solution assignments.

10 a.m. – Engine 29, OES4615, OES4617, WT27 and Battalion 5 responded to Highway108 and Tulloch Road to assist Cal Fire TCU on a vegetation fire. Crews assisted with a hose lay for initial containment and remained on scene for roughly four hours assisting with mop up.

11:50 p.m. – Engine 29, Engine 27, WT27 and Battalion 5 responded to assist Cal Fire for a working structure fire on Tulloch Road. Engine 29, and Engine 27 assisted with two well involved structures with extension into the vegetation. Crews remained on scene to assist with overhaul and WT27 assisted with water shuttle operations.

 

SATURDAY, AUG. 30

Battalion 2: Crews conducted Saturday drills in their FMA’s.

Battalion 5: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Firefighters checked the River Incident from the day prior. No hot spots were located.

Engine 29 trained on pre-trip inspections at Station 30.

Engine 27 and Engine 28 trained on master streams.

2:51 p.m. – Brush 28, OES4617, WT 27, OES4615, OES4618, Grass/WT 23, Battalion 5 and Cal Fire to Woodward Reservoir for a vegetation fire. Brush 28 arrived on scene with a 50’ x 100’ vegetation fire that was put out by park rangers. The balance of the assignment was cancelled as B28 remained on scene for mop up. Cal Fire Engine 4462 assisted.

7:49 p.m. – Engine 27 and Battalion 5 to Dales Pony Drive for an EMSCPR call. Firefighters and medics arrived on scene to find the patient in cardiac arrest. ALS care and pit crew CPR were started as the LUCAS device was attached. Crews worked for 15 minutes before ROSC was obtained. The patient was transported to a local hospital with firefighters on board to assist with care.

12:18 a.m. – Engine 28 and Battalion 5 to Woodward Reservoir for an EMS, assault with a deadly weapon, subject stabbed. Once Sheriff’s deputies cleared the scene, firefighters found two patients with minor lacerations. They were treated and transported to local hospitals by Oak Valley Ambulance.

 

FRIDAY, AUG. 29

Battalion 2: Crews completed the weekly apparatus checks on the Type VI apparatus at their stations.

12:40 p.m. – All Battalion Two companies assisted with a structure and vegetation fire on River Road in Oakdale. Crews focused on containing the wildland fire extension, which was challenging due to steep terrain and strong winds. The fire was controlled at nine and a half acres.

Battalion 5: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

1:03 p.m. – MST units with assistance from Escalon, Ripon and Farmington Fire to River Road for a working residential structure fire. Crews arrived on scene to find a detached shop well involved, with fire extending into two adjacent buildings and two separate vegetation fires across River Road. Additional companies were requested for the vegetation fire. Crews made an aggressive attack on the structure fire, limiting the damage to the two adjacent buildings. As additional crews arrived, firefighters were able to contain the vegetation fire at 9.5 acres with no damage to any structures. The FIU was on scene conducting a cause and origin investigation.

 

THURSDAY, AUG. 28

Battalion 2: Congratulations to Firefighter Richey and Firefighter Guerra for passing their seven-month test.

Battalion 5: Battalion 5 attended training at Station 22 with the other BCs on C shift. This training was a refresher on procedures and tactics that would be utilized in the event that a “MAYDAY” was declared on the scene of an emergency.

 

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 27

Battalion 2: 12:56 p.m. – Grass 24, Brush 3, Brush 28, Engine 21, Water Tender 21, Water Tender 23, Water Tender 39, and BC2 responded for a vegetation fire at McEwen Road and Pellerin Road. A fire along the Tuolumne River was located. Crews contained the fire to approximately one acre including two small spot fires a few hundred yards ahead of the main fire. Extensive mop up kept crews busy for several hours.

 

TUESDAY, AUG. 26

Battalion 2: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Crews rehabbed fire apparatus and equipment that was used at the Lake Incident on the previous shift.

Battalion 5: Crews conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance, performed company level training in their respective FMA’s and completed mandated Target Solution assignments.

Station 27 crews deep cleaned the apparatus bay and adjoining tool room.

10 a.m. – Engine 28 responded for a vehicle accident at Second and D Street in Oakdale. Engine 28 provided patient care on scene and they were transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

4 p.m. – Brush 28, OES4617, WT27 and Battalion 5 responded to the report of a vegetation fire on Dodds Road. Brush 28 arrived on scene to a roadside grass fire. Both crews were able to quickly contain the fire and prevent further spread. Companies remained on scene for roughly 30 minutes for mop up.
