Oak Riv Fire Calls

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, April 25 through Monday, May 1. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, MAY 1

Battalion 5: Crews conducted Monday apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Engine 27 trained on vehicle extrication with Engine 10, Engine 12, Quint 18, and Engine 19 at Pick-n-Pull.

 

SUNDAY, APRIL 30

Battalion 5: Crews conducted daily apparatus checks and station maintenance.

6:19 p.m. – Modesto Water Rescues 28, 29, and BC5 were dispatched to Woodward Reservoir for three people stuck in a disabled boat floating across the reservoir. Water Rescue 28 was able to locate and retrieve all three occupants of the disabled boat and safely bring them to shore. Stanislaus County Sherriff’s Deputies retrieved the disabled boat and brought it shore.

 

SATURDAY, APRIL 29

Battalion 5: Crews attended the “Love Oakdale” event.

3:08 p.m. – Water Rescue 28, Water Rescue 24, Engine 27, and BC5 responded to the Stanislaus River in Riverbank for four individuals stranded and unable to continue down the river. Both boats launched and quickly returned all the stranded rafters and personal belongings to Jacob Myers Park. Engine 29 provided coverage for Fire Station 28.

 

FRIDAY, APRIL 28

Battalion 2: Companies completed individual training.

Battalion 5: 12:02 a.m. – MST units responded to an accident at Highway 108 and Lancaster Road. E28 arrived and reported a three-vehicle accident with negative injuries.

Companies continued with probationary firefighter training and task book-signoffs.

 

THURSDAY, APRIL 27

MST crews rotated through TRPPS park in the airport district to perform annual wildland firefighting training for the upcoming fire season. Crews focused on wildland fire tactics, progressive hose lays, mobile attack, and firefighter safety.

Battalion 2: Station 26 performed training of Grass 26 as well as area familiarization.

Battalion 5: 5:20 a.m. – E28, E27, E29, E26, E23, Quint 22 and Battalion’s 5 & 2 were dispatched to the 2000 block of East F Street in the City of Oakdale for a working residential structure fire. E28 arrived on scene and reported a two-story house with fire showing from the roof. The fire was quickly extinguished and extension into the residence was limited to minimal damage. FIU investigating.

 

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 26

Battalion 2: Crews focused on engine and station maintenance.

 

TUESDAY, APRIL 25

Crews continued boat training on the Stanislaus River.

Battalion 2: 11:29 a.m. – MST units were dispatched to the 4500 block of Bentley Road, in FMA 23, for a barn on fire. Units arrived in the area and located a burn pile that had accidentally caught other unintended material on fire. The property owner was on site and contained the fire without assistance.

Battalion 5: Water Rescues 18, 24, 28, and 29 conducted boat operation training on the Stanislaus River in Knights Ferry.

Modesto Engine 27, Engine 28, and BC5 responded to a vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of West F Street and Crane Road. Engine 28 arrived on scene with a two-vehicle head on collision blocking the westbound lanes of West F Street. One patient suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
