The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2. Note: Shifts are in 24-hour time periods, from 5 a.m. to 5 a.m.
Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Feb. 24 through Monday, March 2. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.
MONDAY, MARCH 2
The MST firefighter academy continued training at Fire Station 17. The training focused on ventilation methods and techniques.
Battalion 2: Battalion 2 companies completed Monday apparatus inspections and maintenance.
Battalion 5: 8:15 a.m. – Engine 7, Engine 26 and BC1 responded to Claribel Road and Squire Wells for a three-vehicle collision. One patient was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
SUNDAY, MARCH 1
Battalion 2: Companies rotated through training evolutions at Fire Station 17.
Engine 26 supported the local Girl Scouts through cookie purchases while they went about their day.
Battalion 5: Engine 27 and Battalion 5 participated in Battalion drills at Fire Station 17. Crews trained on advancing multiple hose lines in the multi-level training tower. The drill simulated a fire on the second floor that had extended to the third.
SATURDAY, FEB. 28
MST resources rotated through the RFTC for training on our new foam product.
Battalion 2: Crews performed Apparatus Bay Maintenance throughout the district.
Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s and completed mandated Target Solution assignments.
Crews conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.
The crew of Modesto Engine 27 and Battalion Chief 5 (stationed in western Oakdale) joined off duty Modesto and Manteca firefighters at Get Fit Oakdale for an LLS Workout Fundraiser. This workout and raffle raised money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society ahead of the 2026 Firefighter Stair Climb this month in Seattle. Multiple firefighters from the area will be making the trip to support the LLS’s mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families by raising money and climbing the Columbia Center building in full firefighter gear.
5:46 p.m. – Engine 27 responded to an EMS call with an unresponsive patient on Westport Circle in Oakdale.
Engine 29 conducted Low Angle Rescue Training in Knights Ferry.
FRIDAY, FEB. 27
Battalion 2: Engine 21 and BC2 attended the foam training at the RFTC.
Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments, and conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.
Battalion 5 companies rotated through the RFTC for Firefighting Foam training.
3:10 p.m. – Engine 28, Engine 27, and Battalion 5 responded for an injury vehicle accident at Sierra and Stearns Road in Oakdale. Engine 28 arrived on scene to find a two-vehicle collision at the intersection. Engine 28 provided patient care on one patient suffering minor injuries.
THURSDAY, FEB. 26
Training was conducted for members preparing for the upcoming Captains test.
MFD members attended the dedication and groundbreaking ceremony for the new affordable housing being constructed in downtown Modesto.
Battalion 2: Crews focused on yard and station maintenance throughout the district.
E26 and Q22 participated in Quarterly Driver’s Training at the RFTC. The training focused on the new foam.
9:24 a.m. – Engine 26, E7, and BC5 were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Oakdale Road and Patterson Road in Riverbank. Crews arrived on scene and found five vehicles involved. Two delayed patients were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Stanislaus County Deputies responded to the scene for investigation.
Battalion 5: Battalion 5 companies completed daily apparatus and equipment maintenance.
E28 participated in Captain’s training in preparation for an upcoming promotional exam.
Battalion 5 companies attended quarterly Engineers training at the RFTC.
E29 conducted company-level training, focusing on Fire Apparatus Parts identification.
WEDNESDAY, FEB. 25
MST new hire academy trained on ground ladder evolutions.
Battalion 2: 11 a.m. – Stanislaus Engine 26 responded with Modesto E11 and BC1 to McHenry Avenue and Ladd Road for reports of a vehicle accident. Crews arrived on scene and found a single vehicle accident with the solo occupant unresponsive. Crews began life saving measures and were able to get pulses to return and the patient breathing. The patient was transported to an area hospital with the firefighter medic from E26 assisting. CHP was on scene investigating.
Battalion 5: Battalion 5 companies completed daily apparatus maintenance.
Crews attended quarterly Engineers training at the RFTC.
8 a.m. – Engine 27 responded to the 500 block of Buckaroo Court in Oakdale for a report of a male that was not breathing. OPD investigating.
TUESDAY, FEB. 24
Battalion 2: Crews rotated through training at the RFTC.
Engine 26 trained on ground ladders at their fire station.
Battalion 5: Engine 27 conducted training at the Oakdale Regional Airport. 27’s crew toured the facilities and identified potential hazards in relation to fuel supplies and storage on the airport grounds. They also discussed tactics in the event of a plane crash.
11:28 p.m. – Engine 28, E27, E26, E23, E24, Q22, BC5, BC3 and M1 responded to a report of a working structure fire in a mobile home park in the 900 block of G Street in Oakdale. Crews arrived on scene to find a double wide mobile home with fire coming from a corner of the home. The occupant got out of the house and upon trying to re-enter to get her pets, sustained first and second degree burns to her face, hair and back. She was flown to a burn unit for treatment. The fire was contained in approximately 15 minutes. There were no firefighter injuries. Firefighters found four dogs and brought them out but unfortunately, they did not survive. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Stanislaus Fire Investigation Unit.
