The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2. Note: Shifts are in 24-hour time periods, from 5 a.m. to 5 a.m.
Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Nov. 25 through Monday, Dec. 1. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.
MONDAY, DEC. 1
MST Staff and personnel attended the flag ceremony at Fire Station 28 in Oakdale followed by a retirement reception at MFD Fire Admin for Fire Chief Kevin Wise. Current and former members of the department also attended. Congratulations on your retirement.
Battalion 2: Monday apparatus maintenance was completed throughout the battalion.
SUNDAY, NOV. 30
Battalion 2: Crews completed their daily apparatus and equipment checks.
Personnel completed mandatory online training.
Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments and conducted apparatus checks and station yard maintenance.
SATURDAY, NOV. 29
Battalion 2: Crews completed their daily apparatus and equipment checks.
Personnel completed mandatory online training in addition to their Saturday company level training.
Battalion 5: Engine 27’s crew went out and trained on hose pulls in their FMA, utilizing stairwells and balcony access.
2:41 p.m. – Engine 29 and BC5 were dispatched to assist Cal Fire on a solo vehicle rollover on Highway 108 east of Lake Tulloch Road. The driver lost control and crashed through a metal fence and into a field. The patient was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.
FRIDAY, NOV. 28
Battalion 5: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks, and worked on completing yearly mandatory online training.
Engine 27, Battalion 5 and OPD welcomed the Oakdale Mustangs football team back into town after a hard loss tonight.
6:16 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 28 and Battalion 5 responded to Wamble Road and Sierra Road for a vehicle accident. Engine 27 arrived on scene with two vehicles, 100 yards apart and the roadway blocked. One patient was treated and transported by OVHD Medics to a local hospital for minor injuries. A second patient was evaluated, refused treatment and turned over to CHP.
12:27 a.m.(Saturday) – Engine 28, Battalion 5 and OVHD Medics responded to Rio Seco Court for an EMSCPR call.
THURSDAY, NOV. 27
Battalion 2: Crews enjoyed the Thanksgiving Holiday with families who were able to visit the stations and have dinner with their loved ones.
Battalion 5: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.
Companies worked on completing yearly mandatory online training.
Families joined on duty crews to share a holiday meal at the station.
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 26
Battalion 2: Water Tenders and Water Rescues maintenance was completed today.
Crews worked on completing the last of this year’s Target Solution assignments.
Battalion 5: 12:47 a.m. (Thursday) – Early this morning, just after midnight, Engine 28, Engine 27, and Battalion 5 responded to a head on collision on River Road near Cleveland Avenue in Oakdale. Upon arrival, crews found two cars and that had collided, and both went off the roadway into an orchard, one hitting a tree. Two people had moderate injuries and were transported to local hospitals.
TUESDAY, NOV. 25
Battalion 2: 5:41 p.m. – Engine 26, Engine 7, Truck 5, and BC5 responded to Patterson Road in Riverbank for a report of smoke coming from the Thunderbolt Wood company. Engine 26 arrived and determined this was normal operations creating steam and cancelled the response.
5:05 p.m. – Engine 7, Engine 26, Truck 5, and BC1 responded to Claribel Road and Coffee Road for a vehicle accident with possible entrapment. Engine 7 arrived and determined there were three minor injuries and no one trapped cancelling all but Engine 26 to assist with patient care.
Battalion 5: 5:16 p.m. – Engine 27 and Battalion 5 responded to a four-car accident on Claus Road and Claribel Road in Modesto. On arrival crews found several cars that were involved in a rear end accident, however, there were no injuries and PD was on scene. All units then cleared.
