The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2. Note: Shifts are in 24-hour time periods, from 5 a.m. to 5 a.m.
Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Dec. 9 through Monday, Dec. 15. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.
MONDAY, DEC. 15
Battalion 2: Engines 22 and 23 worked on completing the transition of E26 to being a clean cab after it had returned from a major repair.
Battalion 5: Crews completed weekly apparatus and equipment checks as well as weekly station maintenance.
Engine 27 trained on 11-month test preparation.
1:22 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 28, Truck 5 and Battalion 5 to Somer’s place for a natural gas leak inside a residence. Firefighters arrived and searched the home for the source. Crews found a malfunctioning stove burner and secured the gas. Companies remained on scene ventilating the structure.
SUNDAY, DEC. 14
Battalion 2: Battalion 2 companies participated in the High-Rise drills at RFTC.
SATURDAY, DEC. 13
Battalion 2: Battalion 2 companies participated in the High-Rise drills at RFTC.
Stanislaus Consolidated was proud to participate in both the Riverbank and Waterford Christmas parades.
Battalion 5: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.
Engine 28 participated in the Wreaths Across America ceremony at Oakdale Citizens Cemetery.
Engine 27 rotated through high rise training at the RFTC.
Engine 29 trained on hose stretches.
FRIDAY, DEC. 12
MST supported the MJC RFTC fire academy completion ceremony as part of our collaborative partnership with MJC; Captain Curless coordinated and MC’d the fall 2025 completion ceremony with support from Deputy Fire Chief Jesberg. This is a win-win partnership for the local fire service community.
Battalion 2: Crews completed their daily apparatus and equipment checks.
Personnel completed mandated online training assignments.
Station 26 trained on their OES Type 1 engine.
Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments, and conducted apparatus checks and station yard maintenance.
Engine 27 assisted with changing out a smoke detector in Oakdale.
Engine 27, Engine 28, Engine 26, Quint 22 and Battalion 5 responded to a potential structure fire at the Chase Bank in Oakdale. Crews arrived on scene to nothing showing and investigated. Engine 27 located a faulty electrical issue and was able to mitigate the problem. The remaining response was cancelled.
THURSDAY, DEC. 11

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 10
Crews conducted a simulated large scale earthquake incident with PG&E at Station 17. Crews were faced with a gas fed fire, electrical hazards and multiple victims inside the buildings.
Battalion 2: Engines 21, 26, and Quint 22 had dispatchers from SR911 ride with them today to experience parts of our job.
8:35 a.m. – Engine 26 and Battalion 5 responded to the 2600 block of Santa Fe Street in Riverbank for a subject who was unresponsive. After five minutes of ALS care, ROSC was achieved. The patient was transported to a local hospital with two firefighter paramedics assisting.
Battalion 5: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.
Engine 29 completed weekly apparatus checks and station maintenance at Station 30.
10:06 a.m. – Engine/Water Tender 27, Engine 28, Engine 29, Engine/WT 23, Engine 26, Quint 22, Escalon WT 1-1, Battalions 2 and 5 to Orange Blossom Road for a working structure fire. Initially dispatched as a potential structure fire, it was quickly upgraded. Crews arrived on scene with smoke from the gable vents. Firefighters found fire in the attic and walls of a bedroom and made an aggressive attack on it. The fire was confined to one room. Firefighters worked to salvage the contents of the home, protecting them from damage. The FIU was on scene conducting a cause and origin investigation. Red Cross assisted three adults and two children.
TUESDAY, DEC. 9
The training division hosted fire extinguisher training for the MJC Deans, VP’s and College President at the RFTC.
HazMat team members met at the RFTC for training and to plan the 2026 training calendar.
Battalion 2: Interviews were conducted for a relief Fire Investigator from Stanislaus Consolidated to begin training with the Stanislaus County FIU.
Battalion 5: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.
Engine 27 trained on policy review and 11-month test preparation.
10:49 p.m. – Engine 26, Engine 7, Quint 22 and Battalion 5 to Winners Circle for a natural gas leak inside the residence. Engine 26 arrived on scene and found no signs of a natural gas leak. They were able to narrow down the odor to a leaking gasoline can. The balance of the assignment was cancelled, and they remained on scene ventilating the garage.
