The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2. Note: Shifts are in 24-hour time periods, from 5 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Nov. 18 through Monday, Nov. 24. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, NOV. 24

Battalion 2: Crews completed their daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Personnel completed mandatory online training.

Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments, and conducted Monday apparatus checks and station yard maintenance.

9:51 a.m. – Engine 27, Engine 28 and Battalion 1 responded to an injury vehicle accident at Highway 108 and Mesa Drive. Engine 27 arrived on scene to a single vehicle into a power pole and checked for injuries. Crews remained on scene and assisted with traffic control until the vehicle could be removed.

12:07 p.m. – Engine 28, Engine 29, Engine 27, and Battalion 5 responded to the report of an injury accident with pin in. Engine 28 arrived on scene to find one vehicle into a ditch and checked for injuries. Engine 28 and Oak Valley provided patient care for one patient with minor injuries. Engine 28 remained on scene to assist with traffic control until CHP and PG&E arrived on scene.

12:39 a.m. – Engine 29 responded for a vehicle fire on Sonora Road in Knights Ferry. Engine 29 arrived to find an unoccupied vehicle fire in the upper parking lot. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire with no extension into the vegetation.

 

SUNDAY, NOV. 23

Battalion 2: Crews completed their daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Personnel completed mandatory online training.

Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s.

Crews completed mandated Target Solution assignments and conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Engine 27 conducted yearly hydrant maintenance in the City of Oakdale.

3:30 p.m. – Engine 26, Engine 27, and Battalion 5 responded to an injury accident on Patterson Road. Crews arrived on scene at the intersection of Patterson Road and Snedigar Road to a motorcycle vs. pick-up truck and checked for injuries. One patient succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Crews assisted the Sheriff’s Department with traffic control.

7:59 p.m. – Engine 27 and Engine 28 responded for an injury vehicle accident on Highway 108 just west of Stearns Road. Engine 27 arrived on scene to a two-vehicle accident and checked for injuries. Crews along with Oak Valley Ambulance provided care for two patients with minor injuries. The patients were transported to a local hospital for further care and crews remained on scene to assist with traffic control.

 

SATURDAY, NOV. 22

Battalion 2: Engine 26 discussed commercial roof hazards, parapets, solar panels, and strip mall tactics.

Battalion 5: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Companies worked on completing yearly mandatory online training.

Oakdale Christian Academy stopped by Station 27 to donate a Thanksgiving dinner to those crews that will be working.

Engine 27, Engine 28 and Battalion 5 trained on fire attack scenarios, hose pulls and pumping evolutions.

 

FRIDAY, NOV. 21

Battalion 2: Crews completed tasks in the annual company task book and completed weekly checks on the wildland apparatus.

Battalion 5: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Companies worked on completing yearly mandatory online training.

Crews trained on ground ladders.

11:14 p.m. – Engine 27, Truck 5 and Battalion 5 to Crane and Highway 108 for an injury accident with possible pin in. Engine 27 arrived on scene to find a single vehicle that had left the roadway at high speed, rolled several times and struck numerous trees. The lone occupant was ejected during the crash. Firefighter/Paramedics began ALS treatment of the patient with moderate injuries. The patient was transported to a local hospital for additional treatment. CHP was on scene investigating the crash.

 

THURSDAY, NOV. 20

Battalion 5: Crews in Battalion 5 worked on completing the assigned Target Safety training assignments that are to be completed by December 1.

Engine 27 crew as well as BC5 trained on the new scheduling and payroll software that goes live next week.

 

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 19

Battalion 2: On duty crews completed exterior station maintenance today, mowing yards and spraying for weeds.

Weekly focused checks on Water Tenders and Water Rescues were completed.

Station 26 had guests from the local scout troop visit the firehouse.

 

TUESDAY, NOV. 18

Battalion 2: Crews completed their daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Personnel completed mandatory online training.

Crews attended the MST High Rise training at Station 17.

SCFPD personnel provided fire extinguisher training to M&ET employees.

Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments, and conducted Monday apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Battalion 5 companies rotated through Station 17 for annual High-Rise Training.

12:17 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 28, and Battalion 5 responded to the report of an injury vehicle accident at Albers and Patterson Road. Engine 28 arrived on scene to a two-vehicle accident and checked for injuries. Engine 28 along with Oak Valley Ambulance provided care for two patients with minor injuries. The patients were transported to a local hospital for further care.
