The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2. Note: Shifts are in 24-hour time periods, from 5 a.m. to 5 a.m.
Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Oct. 7 through Monday, Oct. 13. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.
MONDAY, OCT. 13
Battalion 2: Crews completed their Monday apparatus checks.
Station 26 trained on setting rope systems used for water rescue and low angle rescue incidents.
Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments and conducted Monday apparatus checks and station maintenance.
6:07 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 26 and Battalion 5 responded to a report of an injury accident in the 6300 block of River Road in Oakdale. Engine 27 arrived on scene to one vehicle off the roadway laying on its top. Engine 27 treated one patient for minor injuries and Oak Valley Ambulance transported them for further care to a local hospital.
SUNDAY, OCT. 12
Battalion 2: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.
Crews completed mandated training assignments on Target Solutions.
Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s and completed mandated Target Solution assignments.
Crews conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.
Engine 27 hosted Ceres City Council Member Vierra for a ride along. The crew trained on hose evolutions and provided an overview of department operations.
SATURDAY, OCT. 11
Battalion 2: Crews conducted Saturday drills throughout the Battalion.
Battalion 5: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.
Firefighters completed mandated Target Solutions assignments.
Companies rotated through First Due training, learning about the new reporting and staffing system.
Engine 27 took advantage of the good weather to perform some yard maintenance.
Engine 27 trained on master streams and pumping evolutions.
Engine 29 trained on Firefighter down and RIC scenarios.
FRIDAY, OCT. 10
Battalion 2: Crews rotated through the portable classroom at the RFTC for First Due training. The subject focused on the scheduling module of First Due.
11:04 p.m. – Engines 23, 24, and Battalion 2 responded to a collision involving a vehicle and several parked cars on Main Street in Waterford, between E and F Streets. One of the vehicles was propelled into a residence, resulting in minor property damage. No injuries were reported. The Waterford Police Department is currently investigating the incident.

Companies performed company level training in their respective FMA’s.
Firefighters completed mandated Target Solutions assignments.
Companies rotated through First Due training, learning about the new reporting and staffing system.
11:07 p.m. – Engine 29 and Battalion 5 to Highway 108/120 at Crickett’s Corner for an EMSCPR call. Engine 29 arrived on scene to find a patient in cardiac arrest. Firefighter/Paramedics started ALS care, pit crew CPR and attached the Lucas Device. After 30 minutes of care, the patient was loaded into the ambulance and transported to a local hospital. The Engineer/Paramedic retained care and was assisted by the AMR crew and the FF/EMT to the hospital.
THURSDAY, OCT. 9
Battalion 2: Companies completed rotating through First Due training at RFTC.
Yard maintenance was completed across the fire district.
Companies worked on Target Solutions assignments.
Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments and conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.
Companies rotated through the RFTC to participate in the First Due scheduling training.
Engine 28 conducted pumping evolutions for defensive hose operations.
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 8
Battalion 2: Companies rotated through First Due training at RFTC.
FE Mike Avila was recognized and presented a certificate by Deputy Chief Bray at the SCFPD board meeting for his meritorious work on the 108 Fire in Riverbank.
Battalion 5: Crews completed company level training as well as daily apparatus and equipment checks.
Battalion 5 companies rotated through First Due scheduling training at the RFTC.
Battalion 5 attended the Valley Home MAC meeting and briefed the audience on department events.
1039 a.m. – OES 4615, OES 4617, Water Tender 27, Brush 28, BC1 along with a CalFire response were dispatched to the 16300 block of Orange Blossom Road for a vegetation fire. OES 4615 reported a 10-x-10 roadside grass fire. They mitigated the incident within minutes and canceled the responding resources.
3:08 p.m. – Engine 28, Quint 22 and Battalion 5 were dispatched to East A Street in the City of Oakdale for an injury accident with entrapment. Engine 28 reported two vehicles involved with two patients, both with minor injuries. Crews found one vehicle on its side with one patient entrapment. Crews worked to extricate the patient who was transported to a local medical facility. OPD investigating.
TUESDAY, OCT. 7
Battalion 2: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.
Engine 26 completed in-service training with their new rope rescue equipment.
Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments and conducted Monday apparatus checks and station maintenance.
Companies rotated through the RFTC to participate in the First Due scheduling training.
