The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2. Note: Shifts are in 24-hour time periods, from 5 a.m. to 5 a.m.
Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Jan. 13 through Monday, Jan. 19. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.
MONDAY, JAN. 19
Battalion 2: Crews completed Monday apparatus inspections across Battalion 2.
Crews met at Station 24 to work on strategy and tactics at commercial structure fires at all levels.
Battalion 5: Battalion 5 Companies performed weekly apparatus and equipment maintenance.
Station 27’s crew and Battalion Chief Costa managed the C-Shift vacation-selection process for 2026.
SUNDAY, JAN. 18
Battalion 2: Crews completed station and apparatus maintenance, and worked on Target Solution assignments.
Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s and completed mandated Target Solution assignments.
Crews conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.
SATURDAY, JAN. 17
Battalion 2: Crews performed swiftwater boat training at Modesto Reservoir.
Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments, conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance. Crews also trained in their FMA’s for company level drill day.
1 p.m. – Engine 26, Engine 7, Truck 5 and Battalion 5 responded to a potential structure fire in Station 26’s FMA for a smell of gas inside the residence. Engine 26 arrived on scene and were unable to find any smell of gas or reading on their gas monitor. PG&E was requested to the scene to assist.
6 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 28 and Battalion 5 were dispatched for an injury accident on Patterson Road just east of Langworth. Engine 27 arrived on scene to a single vehicle off of the roadway into an orchard. Engine 27 assisted Oak Valley Ambulance with patient care on one minor patient.
FRIDAY, JAN. 16
Battalion 5: Station 27 crews organized and conducted department vacation picks for B shift.
Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s and completed mandated Target Solution assignments. Crews also conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.
THURSDAY, JAN. 15
Battalion 5: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.
Crews trained on various topics in their FMA’s.
10:16 a.m. – Engine 26, Engine 28, Quint 22 and Battalion 5 responded to a potential structure fire in the 800 block of North Yosemite Avenue. Engine 28 arrived to find light smoke coming from the middle unit of a commercial strip mall and upgraded the call to a working commercial structure fire. Firefighters entered the building and found a burning commercial clothes dryer. The fire was quickly extinguished, and the building was ventilated. Damage was limited to two dryer units and smoke in the building.
12:08 p.m. – Engine 28 and Battalion 5 responded to a medical aid for a bicycle vs. vehicle. Crews arrived to find the patient on the ground in traumatic arrest. Crews began initial patient care and ALS care was initiated from OVHD Medics. The patient was quickly packaged and transported to a local hospital with two Firefighters on board to assist with patient care.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 14
Members of MST that are on the Central Valley Incident Management Team are attending an Incident Operations class to be qualified in their positions.
Engine 4, Engine 5, Engine 10, Engine 19, Engine 28, and Truck 1 conducted training on hoseline stretches at Station 17.
Battalion 2: Crews spent the day working with Battalion 2 going over the new Central Square program.
Battalion 5: Engine 29 completed weekly apparatus checks and station maintenance at Station 30 in Valley Home.
Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.
Battalion 5 attended the Valley Home MAC Meeting.
TUESDAY, JAN. 13
The Hazardous Materials Team conducted training at Fire Station 4. The Team went over OES updates, recent hazmat incidents, potential deployments, and future plans. The Team ended the training with cleaning and inventorying the Hazmat 4 Trailer.
Battalion 2: Crews trained on the new CAD system at Station 22.
Battalion 5: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.
Crews trained on various topics in their FMA’s.
Battalion 5 trained with other companies in preparation for the launch of the Central Square Dispatch system.
