Looking to provide a little extra help for those in need in the community, representatives of the Oakdale Rescue Mission, ORM, said they “are trying something new this year.”

They will be having a “Blessing Bin” box out in front of the house at 131 W. G St., Oakdale, on Sunday, Nov. 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“We are asking that when out shopping, please think of our friends,” noted ORM officials. “We would love to be able to bless them with a new pair of shoes, new jeans, new or gently used heavy jackets or rain coats, warm gloves, and $15 gift cards to Taco Bell. We would also welcome sleeping bags and backpacks.”

Residents that are able to purchase any of these items are asked to drive by the Oakdale Rescue Mission on Nov. 30 and drop donations off in the Blessing Bin.

“Some of our families have been successful in getting sober and we try to help them and their families during the holidays,” officials added. “It has been our custom to give them a $100 gift card to Walmart for each of their children. If $100 is beyond your budget and you would still like to help, cards in $25 for Walmart would be appreciated as well.”

Donors are asked to mark the denomination on the card so they can be sorted accordingly.
