Two arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing into an assault that occurred earlier this month in the city of Oakdale.
Officers responded to a reported physical altercation in the 800 block of East H Street about 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8. A 25-year-old female on scene reported being assaulted by four adult males.
Through the subsequent investigation, officers learned one of the subjects had brandished a handgun prior to all suspects fleeing the scene.
Arrested in connection with the case was Elijah Souza, 20, who was booked into Stanislaus County Jail on multiple felony charges including robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment.
Nearly a week later, on Jan. 14, a second suspect was identified and taken into custody, with assistance from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office and Stanislaus County Probation. Jonathan Masters, 21, was arrested and booked at county jail on multiple felony charges as well, including robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment.
Oakdale Police Department investigators are pursuing additional leads and are working to determine whether the suspects may be connected to a recent series of vehicle burglaries that occurred over the past week in multiple areas of the city.
