MEMORIAL DAY
VET

Members of Oakdale VFW Post 2922, Darren Nunes, Fred Stepp and Dan Vigil took a moment to pose by Stepp’s classic truck at Monday’s Memorial Day observance at Oakdale’s Eric Medlen Park. The threesome later took part in a brief ceremony featuring the Presentation of the Colors, a few remarks by city councilwoman Cherilyn Bairos and the singing of the National Anthem. The day also included a free barbecue for all in attendance, a bouncehouse, face painting, booths and fun games for the entire family. Overseeing the barbecue duties was Zachary Fisher of Oakdale, also known as ‘The Food Dude.’ He said they planned for about 200 people in terms of how much food to prepare, with hot dogs, chicken, salads, fruit, chips and cookies all on the menu. The Monday, May 27 events were co-sponsored by Infinite Athletics, Fit Republic and Oakdale VFW Post 2922.
