Oakdale Mayor JR McCarty is urging people to strictly adhere to the recommended guidelines for battling the coronavirus.

In a YouTube post shared on the city’s Police Department Facebook this week, the mayor said that the “health, safety and welfare of our citizens is our top priority.”

To that end, McCarty said Oakdale residents are in this together.

“We are asking for your help in slowing the spread of this virus,” he said, adding that the city has between one to four positive tests for the virus.

“We need to all stop acting like this is not our problem because it is here in Oakdale,” the mayor said.

He added that more information can be obtained by texting stancovid19 to 888777 or visit the stanemergency Facebook page or the stanemergency.com website.

“We live in such a giving community; thank you for all those who supported those in need,” McCarty said.

He also reminded residents to stay informed.

“Live your life with facts not misleading fear,” he said.

Many businesses and residents, have been impacted, he admitted, but said that working together, the community can get through the current crisis.
