Massage Ordinance Returning To Council
oak city

In response to credible public complaints regarding local massage businesses potentially operating under illicit circumstances, Oakdale Police Chief Jerry Ramar discussed a new potential ordinance before City Council, Tuesday, Sept. 5.

In as recently as 2019, the subject of a city ordinance was broached in regard to massage businesses located within the city, but the process proved to be anything but straightforward.

Fast forward to today, and the topic is back on the books with action slated for the Monday, Sept. 18 City Council meeting.

Discussion regarding the issue brought up concerns about client privacy, inadvertently punishing law-abiding citizens, and creating more bureaucracy than necessary in an attempt to put a stop to the illegal activities perpetuated by a few.

Massage therapists and owners of massage businesses are urged to attend the next City Council meeting to voice their concerns or lend their support to the new ordinance.
