Runners and walkers from throughout the region are being encouraged to register now for the upcoming 34th annual Don Osborne Memorial Run, hosted by the Oakdale Lions Club. This year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7.

The races begin at William Meyer Park, G Street and South Second Avenue, Oakdale, behind the Oakdale Library. The course is on flat, paved city streets with traffic control provided.

This is a rain or shine event. There is a one-mile walk/run that takes off at 9 a.m., with the 5k run following at 9:45 a.m.

The awards ceremony begins at 10:45 a.m.

Registration is $25 for adults, $10 for children ages nine to 18; under nine are free. Make checks payable to Oakdale Lions Club and mail them to the club at P.O. Box 550, Oakdale, CA 95361. Or, register online at runsignup.com

Race day registration begins at 8 a.m.; that is also the start time for shirt and bib pick-up.

There are separate male and female divisions with multiple age groups for each race, ranging from 5 and under on up to 80-plus for the one-mile run/walk, with 12 and under for the 5k run up to 80-plus.

Lions Club officials said there are gift certificates presented to the first place overall male and female runners in both races, with medals awarded for the top three finishers in each age division in both races. Light snacks, fruit and juice are also made available to all participants.

Proceeds help the Oakdale Lions Club continue to support a number of community service projects, scholarship programs and more.
