Our Summer Reading Challenge for all ages is in full swing. Read books you love, join us for fun activities and programs, and enter to win great prizes throughout the summer.

Teens and Tweens: Come to the library on Tuesday, June 4, at 3 p.m. We will be making Pokémon-inspired paintings and Poké Ball Catapults. This special “CrafT(w)een” Program will keep the fun rolling in June.

More “CrafT(w)een” Fun for Teens and Tweens will be happening on Tuesday, June 18, at 3 p.m., with “Mermaids, Unicorns, and Dragons!” We will be making an assortment of fantasy-themed crafts and slime too.

We will have a “Summer Games” Guessing Jar all week, June 10-15. Make the best guess of how many objects we have in our jar and win a prize.

Our Children’s Craft will feature an “Aladdin” Theme. Stop by on your magic carpet on Wednesday, June 12, at 3:30 p.m.

We will have two Lego Days this month. Kids can create their own masterpieces using our fabulous Lego collection and we will display these great works in the Library. The building fun begins at 3 p.m. on Thursdays, June 13 and June 27.

Please bring your little ones for some Toddler/Preschool Dance Fun on Monday, June 17, at 11 a.m. We’ll be “rockin’ out” to some of our favorite Story Time music as well as trying the hula, the Twist, or perhaps a Mexican Hat Dance.

Especially for adults – “Hot Mess Painting!” Basically, a reverse stencil where the bottom layer is a unique “mishmash” of colors; come by the library on Saturday, June 22 at 2 p.m., and give it a try. Your personal creativity will shine through.

On Tuesday, June 25, at 11:30 a.m., we will be hosting our regular Oakdale Library Book Club for adults. Join in to meet, mingle, and chat with other literature lovers. Read and discover new books, genres, and authors. This month’s selection will be “The Pilot’s Wife” by Anita Shreve. Please stop by the Library to sign out a copy. Then join us for a great discussion. New members are always welcome.

The Friends of the Oakdale Library are the main sponsors of so many of our great programs and prizes, including our fabulous gift baskets given to Adult Summer Reading drawing winners.
