Alisen Payette and her sons Huxley (7) and Roland (4) were visiting the Oakdale area family and friends. Huxley carried on a family tradition by attending Camp Jack Hazard where his mother spent many a happy summer. With camping, waterslides, visits to Columbia and Santa Cruz as well as Kim McCarthy’s Art Camp, the month went by quickly. They reconnected with family and sharing memories of growing up in her “home town” with her boys made this a special visit to California from Missouri. Alison is teaching 5th and 6th grades and loving it. Thanks to the wonderful teachers from Knights Ferry School for showing her how it should be done, all those years ago! Alisen is the niece of Ellen Wearin.

There was a grass fire off the highway by Kennedy Road last Thursday and the firefighters got on it quickly. Cal Fire sent 2 borate bombers, a spotter plane and the helicopter. The borate bombers circled but the helicopter dipped water from the river below Frymire’s house and it was out quickly.

Don and Gayle Diltz have returned from North Ogden, Utah where they helped their daughter Corry and her husband Brian move into a new home. Don said Utah is so clean, no graffiti or weeds.

Monday nights the River’s Edge has been having dance lessons Each Monday is a new dance. Activities start around 6:30.

The Griesners have dispatched their fourth rattlesnake! Jake the dog was barking and the snake was by the front door. It had eight rattles.

Kathy Mangante thought she was going to a family party for her 60th birthday at the River’s Edge with a “sock hop” theme BUT she ended up at the tennis court and Odd Fellows Hall where many friends and family awaited her arrival. Relatives came from near and far to help her celebrate. All enjoyed the Disc Jockey’s music and the “sock hop” food.
