Phil and Lisa Frymire took their ‘71 Cadillac and cruised over Sonora Pass to Nevada, going to Topaz and Carson City and back over Hwy 88. Good trip!

The MAC meeting was held Thursday at the I.O.O.F. Hall because of the Zero party entertainment practice at the clubhouse. Carla Doshas was sworn into office. The Oakdale Rural Fire Department sent board member Sherry Schlegel to report on the brown outs. She told of Station 2 and 3 being unstaffed every two days, rotating between the stations, starting October 1st. This is the only way the district could save money but keep in operation. Brian Sutton from Stanislaus County Animal Control told of no citations or dog bites the past two months. A new shelter will be built, with ground to be broken at the end of the year. Keep current on your animal’s rabies shots! Raul Melendez, MAC Coordinator, told of Shavon Haskell being appointed to the board again and that leaves one space vacant. Sheriff Adam Christianson spoke on the budget, no lay offs of patrolmen; they took money from other areas. The crime rate is low in the unincorporated areas. CHP patrolman C. Leon said that the Highway patrol would watch the school traffic, as complaints have come in about speeding and lack of stopping at stop signs. The County Code Enforcer gave a power point presentation on what they do. There will be a waste tire recycling October 24th at the County Agriculture Facility on Cornucopia Way, Modesto. You can bring in 9 tires and your proof of residence.

Those having an anniversary ending with zero were Luke and Lois Heister (10), Steve and Kasandra Ingram and Jason and Lisa Lewis 20 years, Lee and Mary Sue Shearer (30), Mick and Carol Olsen (50) and Elmer and Loretta Raphael (60). Knights Ferry Garden Club will hold its October meeting in the clubhouse on October 21. Bring your lunch and help with the pumpkin rolls.

Tickets are available for the 50’s Dance on October 16th from any Foundation member, teachers or at the school office. The cost is $15.00 per person. Once again raffle tickets will be available for a chance to win a week in Hawaii for two at a condo and airfare up to $1,000. You can call 881-3454 for more information. The dance will include the famous hula-hoop contest, twist contest, limbo contest and best costume. The proceeds go to the Knights Ferry School Foundation. Last year the Foundation was able to give the school $9,000. Come out and have a good time and support the school!
