The Willms Ranch, State Landmark 415, is a California State Historic Landmark and is being renovated by New Interiors of Manteca. The outside has been finished and Shirley Willms McPhee and Carolyn Willms Lopez and Fred Lopez threw a party to celebrate. Dave Johnson, the master craftsman on the project, took family, friends and neighbors on tour, explaining how he recreated the look of the old house. It was built in 1892 and had been in a decline in recent years. The inside lath and plaster has been removed and that will be the next step in the renovation. Dave told how he discovered where things had been (besides photos) by uncovering the telltale signs of former walls and dormers.

The porch railings have been reconstructed like the original and so had the porch skirting. Lloyd Stueve brought his Concord Stage Coach, drawn by a matched team of Percheron horses. He gave rides over the countryside to all, and boy, was that rough and bumpy (leave your wine behind). A great luncheon was served and the guests enjoyed eating under the old oak tree and on the porch.
