Knights Ferry News for January 26, 2011

For the third time in a month the power was out for a long time. This time it went out at about 6:00 p.m., dinner time! Your reporter had almost finished cooking so on went the lids and finished with residual heat. Dinner was by a propane lantern. Some Ferrians went out to dinner, some ate cold sandwiches and some were already through eating. Most just went to bed.

There is a lot of activity on Main Street. The cable layers are approaching the telephone building. Benny and his crew are working on the River’s Edge and Heather Voortman and her crew are working on the Creamery. It will be nice when we have eating establishments again!

Knights Ferry School held their second quarter Renaissance Assembly last Friday. First timers got a bookmark and second timers got free passes to different places. Those with a 4.0 GPA were: Rilyn Cassaretto, Wyatt Dickens, Kaeli Sweet, Paris Thompson, Ray Patton, Shawn Spani, Shaela Borba, Meghan Caron, Sage Heckinger and Ashley Caron. Congratulations!

KFS students with a 3.0 to 3.9 GPA were: Tyden Baker, Brooks Bonde, Brandon Carroll, Eden Cassinetto, Emma Fallentine, Sam Fletcher, Angel Limon, Austin Santillo, Jenna Armario, Jocelyn Burke, Madeline Freitas, Julia Nilsson, Sophie Jones, Daniel Lubeck, Madison Willis, Maria Garcia, Cleo Wilson, Annette Arias, Kaitlin Burke, Jaycee Harden Mikayla Largent, Araceli Limon, Jasmin Olvera and Chris Roek. Keep up the good work!

The First Graders at KFS went to the Oakdale Airport to see a U.S. Coast Guard Helicopter land, piloted by Will Johnson, Mrs. Pfefferle’s son.

Condolences go out to Ken Ritts and his family on the death of his mother, Margaret Ritts. She leaves six children, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Condolences also go out to the family of “Foggy” Harrison. He lived in the Ferry for a while. He leaves behind daughter Cody, and stepdaughters Corey Roberts White and Christy Roberts.

Knights Ferry Garden Cub will not have a February meeting. Woven Valentines were made at the January meeting for the local care homes.

Don’t forget to fine those White Elephants for the Ground Hog Dinner on February 5th.
