Knights Ferry News 9-23-20

Big news for Knights Ferry School students! Knights Ferry School’s waiver to allow students to return to school on campus has been approved. The waiver only applies to Kindergarten through 6th grade so the 7th and 8th graders will remain entirely online. Knights Ferry has always had small class sizes but classes will be further divided into smaller cohorts. Each cohort will attend school on campus two days a week on either Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays. If a student’s cohort attends school on Mondays and Wednesdays, they will do school work at home similar to independent study on Tuesdays and Thursdays and vice versa if they attend school on campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Fridays, they will all attend school online with their teacher. The one special case will be Kindergarten. Because they are such a small class size, they will be allowed to attend school every day.

The school will implement guidelines to help protect students and teachers from viral transmission. The school has received overwhelming support from the parents to reopen school. They have not decided a date to officially reopen the school campus, the school board will likely determine the start date at their next meeting.

The students will not be allowed to use the drinking fountains so the school is accepting small water bottles (single-use) for students who forget a water bottle for school. They can be dropped off at the Knights Ferry Creamery.
