Lee Shearer’s Sendoff Shindig was very well attended and the weather was absolutely perfect at the cemetery. There was an Odd Fellows service and a military veteran service held in Lee’s honor. The Odd Fellows spoke about his contributions over the 60+ years as an Odd Fellow and the VFW Post performed their Military honors ceremony complete with firing guns, folding the American flag and presenting it to Lee’s wife, Mary Sue, playing Taps on the trumpet and finishing with Amazing Grace on bagpipes. After the completion of the graveside service, those in attendance met the Community Club and Odd Fellows hall to eat lunch, share stories of Lee, and enjoy the stage of memorabilia. Thank you to the family and friends who worked so hard to set up, prepare the food and drinks, and clean up for Lee’s service. It was beautiful and the food was delicious!

My mom, Kay Martinelli and Kathy Murray went to visit my eldest sister, Mickie Martinelli-Stauss in Oklahoma to celebrate her 50th birthday. Also in attendance were all of Mickie’s children, Logan Martinelli and fiancé, Rylan Kerr, Thor Hoefer and fiancé, Nevada Nelson, and Rossi and her husband and daughter, Matt and Leddie Mae Glover. Mickie’s husband, Luke, BBQed for the whole crowd. Happy 50th birthday, sister!

In upcoming events, students at Knights Ferry school will begin raising money for their upcoming Color Run fundraiser on October 14 and the Community Club is planning for the Pumpkin Roll on November 6.
