Knights Ferry News 5-5-21

The Knights Ferry Parent Teacher Club hosted their annual Dinner and Auction Fundraiser to raise funds for school activities and supplies. This year, they had a very specific goal of raising money for brand new outdoor playground equipment. The Parent Teacher Club served almost 200 drive-thru tri-tip dinners prepared by local Odd Fellows members and opened their online auction to raise the funds. Even though the fundraiser looked a bit different than in previous years, they were able to keep with the annual tradition of auctioning off class projects. There were custom painted cornhole boards, patio chairs, a handmade quilt, planters, framed art, a detailed lantern, and a wine barrel table with a mosaic tile top. The auction website showed picture of the students working on their projects and the completed projects. The auction also purchased some new animals and garden supplies for additional enrichment for the school farm and garden. Hats off to the wonderful marvelous board members of the Parent Teacher Club! It was quite a task to set up this unique fundraiser. It went well and I look forward to hearing about the new outdoor playground equipment!

The Odd Fellows monthly pancake breakfast is back to its regular schedule! I have missed their hot breakfast for only $6 a person but I really missed the good company and fellowship that comes with it. See you next month!

Mark your calendars for July 24th at 5pm for a memorial dinner and silent auction for Eric Ulrich. Eric was a beloved member of our community and his kindness and shy smile is missed around town. The event will be held at the Community Club and tickets are $50 per person. The Odd Fellows Stanislaus Lodge #170 is hosting the event and they have live music, food, and beer from the Dying Breed Brewery for the guests to enjoy! For tickets and information contact Fred Dolling at 209-743-3461.

The Army Corps of Engineers needs a volunteer Park Host for the summer in our local park. The volunteer must own and maintain a recreation vehicle, reside on site and work five days a week, and pass a background check. They help with park beautification, minor park maintenance, build and maintain trails, serve as campground/visitor center hosts, and conduct educational programs and tours. For more information call 209-881-3517; email hilary.a.coleman@usace.army.mil, or visit www.volunteer.gov. Please spread the word to anyone who might be interested.
