Knights Ferry School held its Jog-a-thon Award assembly last Friday. Students running the highest number of laps per grade (boy and girl) were: Kindergarten- River McCarthy and Xavier Olivera, First Grade- tie Dakota Voortman, Maribel Limon, Second Grade- Marcada Baker and Joshua Munoz, Third Grade- Alex Arias, Fourth Grade- Paris Thompson and Sam Fletcher, Fifth Grade- Julia Nilsson and Ray Patton, Sixth Grade- Sophie Jones and Daniel Lubeck, Junior High- Annette Arias and Duke Bonde. They each received a gold medal. Those students collecting the most funds by grade were River McCarthy, Dakota Voortman, Marcada Baker, Tatyn Silva, Tyden Baker, Joselyn Burke, Daniel Lubeck and Kaitlin Burke. Outstanding performance for collecting funds went to Tyden Baker for his collecting over $1100 dollars. The Fourth Grade won the pizza party for the most money collected per person. Makena Mendonca had her ticket drawn for a gift certificate. It was a Jog well done!

The Knights Ferry School Kindergarten class went to the community garden to work last Wednesday. Alexa Boyajian’s grandparents, Laura and Eric Ray, donated adjustable rakes for each child. They had watched the Kinders try to rake with adult rakes and decided the class needed rakes just their size. The kids loved them. Bridgette Hobbs organized “thanks” bracelets for the students to make. Some children raked and some collected many snails to be relocated. Other students picked flowers for a bouquet, which was presented to Laura Ray. Deagan Sweet liked catching a tree frog. Grace Harden liked raking. Ben Cassinetto like the new rakes and Vincent Peterson liked making the bracelet and relocating the snails.

Rex Lamb, former Knights Ferry resident celebrated his big 50 with a party at the Lamb home on River Road. His parents, Bill and Sharon Lamb were there as were his sister Debbie Singletary, niece Michelle Krutsinger and great niece Natalie Krutsinger. The Lamb children, Amanda, Clayton, Rachel, Christine and Savannah and her husband Jake McCormack, along with friends, helped Rex celebrate. Julie Beth put on a nice spread for all to enjoy.

December 2nd is the Community Club’s annual Christmas dinner. It will be at 6 p.m. at the clubhouse. The club provides the turkey, ham, potatoes and gravy and drinks. Those with last names beginning with A-M please bring a salad or side, N-Z bring desserts. The Oakdale High School Choir will provide the entertainment. Food and unwrapped children’s gifts will be collected. This event is always a good kick-off to the Christmas season.

December 5th will be Christmas in Knights Ferry, with the Odd Fellows breakfast, crafts at the clubhouse, the Museum will be open and the third annual parade will go through town and the covered bridge. The parade forms at 10:30 at the River’s Edge and steps off at 11 a.m.
