“Free Market has entered its fifth year of monthly food distribution, serving residents of Knights Ferry and its surrounding rural areas. Partnering with the Modesto Love Center, we serve an average of 20 households each month, doubling our reach from years past. Thanks to monetary donations and seasonal produce from local gardeners, we are able to shift again into a higher gear, strengthening access to nutritional food, local artisan goods and expanding our house and hygiene department. In addition to Second Tuesday’s monthly food distribution, in November and December we offer an extra curated food box for the holiday season. Practicing in the art of giving and receiving, we warmly welcome donations from our Need’s List. Some exciting news for patrons of The River’s Edge, they have expanded their hours and now offer breakfast daily. The River’s Edge is now open Sunday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

As Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday, March 8, don’t forget to set your clocks ahead one hour Saturday night. With the spring equinox just around the corner, the days are stretching longer, the light is returning, and the season is quietly turning once again. It’s a beautiful time to step outside, breathe in the changing air, and welcome the promise of brighter evenings in Knights Ferry.
