Condolences go out to the families of Nicole Taylor Pena and her husband Oscar and Heather Barlow Pena and her husband Noe on the death of their father-in-law Oscar Pena.

This warm weather is bringing out more than flowers! Seems a Knights Ferry resident had their back door kicked in and some things stolen while they were gone and there was a fracas involving a gun at the end of the street. The sheriff was out twice in a week and they haven’t been out for months. Keep vigilant!

At the Knights Ferry School Board meeting the Second Interim budget was approved. The 2015-16 Comprehensive School Safety Plan was approved. The proposed 2015-16 calendar was presented and approved. There were 18 Kindergarteners that registered, a nice addition to the student body. April 30th was set as Open House. Superintendent Cheryl Griffiths and Custodian Lynn Duckworth went to the County for a Pest Management meeting. The next board meeting will be April 16th because of Spring Break.

There was a nice turnout for Benny’s Ball Feed last Saturday. A lot of good food and entertainment was happening.

This weekend, March 21 and 22 is the Civil War reenactment. The camps open at 9 a.m. for your touring pleasure. Saturday’s battles are at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. The spaghetti dinner starts at 5 p.m. in the clubhouse. Tickets are $7 for spaghetti, salad, bread, drinks and dessert. There will be a raffle also. Sunday’s battles will be at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. This is a great opportunity for children to see living history.

The 18th annual Knights Ferry School Silent/Live Auction and Dinner will be Saturday, March 28th. Tickets are on sale at the school office. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner is at 7 p.m.
