Remember Thursday, July 1st is the Community Club Picnic at 6:00 p.m. at the Pecan Grove in the Knights Ferry Recreation Park. The club will provide hot dogs and drink. A-M please bring salads or sides and M-Z desserts or nibbles.

Megan (Martinelli) Peterson reports that daughter Hannah Holland and her fast pitch under 14 softball team, California Breeze, (out of Sacramento) won their Metro Division and qualified for the Nationals in Moline, Illinois. All that driving to Sacramento paid off. Way to go Hannah!

Condolences go out to Helen Smith on the loss of her son, Scott. He fell into the north canal below Goodwin Dam and as of column due date his body has not been found.

Ken and Linda Morris and granddaughter Rhiannon, have returned from a trip to Yellowstone. Highlight of the trip was seeing a mother Grizzly Bear and 4 cubs! The rangers performed DNA on them and all 4 were hers. That happens very rarely. They took in the Bozeman Museum of the Rockies where the display was on Leonardo DaVinci’s inventions. Linda said that was very interesting. They saw lots of animals and Rhiannon got her Junior Ranger Badge. There was a big snowstorm on the way home.

At the Municipal Advisory Council’s meeting (MAC), a representative from Environmental Resources, Code Enforcement, did a presentation on what the Code Enforcement job entails. She also told of a tire amnesty day and bulk item pick-ups. Christy Amaral from the County CEO’s office told of the Stanislaus Board of Supervisors approval of the recommended budget; it will be a tight year. The “green book” was handed out, a reference guide to Historical Zone do’s and don’ts.

The Knights Ferry Community Church will hold Vacation Bible School on July 12, 13, and 14 from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Preschool through High School children are welcome. Each day the children will journey into Planet Zoom with the help of Scout, a bee in the hive. Contact Heather at 881-3226 if you have any questions.

June 26th was the wedding of Charles David Taylor to Jessica Elizabeth Brennan. James and Janice Brennan and Joan Taylor and the late Walt Taylor are the parents of the couple. The vows took place on the lawn at the River’s Edge with the bride entering to the “Star Wars’ theme and the whole wedding party wearing colored Converse (sneakers). Flower girls Lilly Malcom, Niamh Malcom, Danika Savage and Jayden Havers tossed flowers along the path, but Niamh came along and picked them up! Best man was Curt Dyer and Maid of Honor was Mary Faye Brennan. Rounding out the wedding party were Robby Kissinger, William Dyer, Steve Renhult, Sonja Renhult, Alfred Brennan, Brad Franca, Dominic Brown, Jason Cox Wendy Brown, Jason Kissinger, Robert Huggins, Kira Oden, Nicole Ling, Melissa Franca, Rachelle Savage, and Kathleen Malcom. Ring Bearer was Carter Franca and Junior Bridesmaid was Maya Renhult. Josh Malcom was the Official in Charge, giving a brief history of the Bride and Groom’s meeting and dating. The couple exchanged rings and Josh gave them comic books to exchange. The wedding party and guests then moved on to the Community Club where they enjoyed a Taco Truck dinner and dancing. It was an interesting non-traditional wedding.
