The 38-year-old elevator in the Miller’s Hall is currently out of service after running out of oil due to a faulty seal. Museum associates are in the process of trying to locate a qualified repair company to fix the issue. “Our senior visitors are not able to climb stairs to visit the museum and learn about the history of our Gold Rush town,” said Carol Davis, a museum volunteer. “It was the County seat of Stanislaus County for ten years during the time of the Civil War.” The Knights Ferry Museum is accepting donations to help preserve this historic building and restore access for all visitors.

Join Free Market on February 22nd for their third semi-annual Seed Exchange, held at the Odd Fellows Lodge on Main Street from 12pm-5pm. Inside the lodge, visitors will find local vendors to shop from, along with a raffle benefiting Free Market’s mission. The true jewel of the Seed Exchange will be a table overflowing with free seeds and plants for the taking.

Guests are encouraged to bring saved seeds or sprouts from their own gardens to share, and to take what they need from what others have donated. Don’t have anything to contribute? No problem at all, come empty-handed and take what you need.

All proceeds from the event go directly toward Free Market’s monthly food distribution and ongoing community events. The Free Market Seed Exchange is about practicing the art of giving and receiving and celebrating abundance for all. For more information or to participate, contact Bethany with Free Market at knightsferryfreemarket@gmail.com or find them on Instagram @freemarketkf.
