Kay Martinelli went to Kentucky to see daughter Angie who was at Fort Knox taking classes. Joining Kay were Kathy Murray, Pat Kuhn and Kay Davis from Idaho. While Angie was in class the foursome visited the horse farms. They went to Gainesway Farm, Windstar Farm, Claiborne Farm and Churchill Downs. They saw the Triple Crown winner American Pharaoh and his cat! They also went to a very large flea market. One weekend they took Angie to Nashville and saw Vince Gill perform at the Grand Ole Opry. He played for three hours straight. Kay took pictures of old southern homes and the lush, mowed fields. Kay said the people were very friendly. Angie is now an Army Career Counselor. She is back to Germany and her boys.

At the MAC meeting the California Highway Patrolman told of a new Commander and that the CHP will be getting more involved in schools. He said the DUI collisions with injuries or fatalities are way up in the county. Under old business the training for the Brown Act for MAC members was again mentioned. The recent fire in the state has brought a look to our local fire hazards. Stanislaus Consolidated Fire is looking at our hazards and will notify homeowners to clean up. Now is not the time to mow or weed eat, that should have been done in the spring. The fire on Frymire hill came very close to entering the town so all should be on the watch for fire conditions. Under new business the speeding through town and up Dean and Ellen to the school was discussed. The Highway Patrol will watch that.
