Nancy Patton attended both the ORFD board meeting and the MAC meeting last week to learn about the fire protection plan for Knights Ferry and was kind enough to summarize what was discussed. At the ORFD board meeting, the Modesto Fire Chief and the Oakdale City Manager assured the attendees at the very least, coverage would stay the same but they are working to provide more coverage focusing on weekend protection through busy season. The Modesto Fire Chief has also met with Cal Fire to discuss ticketing property owners who have not properly cleared their land and they are also developing a plan to maintain the property around the school. Community members can rest assured that even if the contract with Modesto Fire is not finalized by the date our contract with SCFPD expires (June 1st), they will provide our minimum service on an interim basis.

The 2019-20 MAC officers are Nancy Patton, Chairwoman, Dolly Haskell, Co-Chair, and David Voortman, Secretary. The council members are available to answer questions or to get a citizen’s item on the agenda. They conduct a “Citizen’s Forum” at every meeting where concerns may be brought to the MAC’s attention for potential future action. They meet the fourth Thursday of every month at the Community Club at 7pm.

Assemblymember, Health Flora’s mobile district office hours are June 17th from 4:30-5:30pm in the Miller’s Hall building. Community members are invited to drop-in on a first come, first serve basis.

The Knights Ferry 8th grade graduation and Kindergarten promotion is on May 30th. Kindergarten promotion begins at 5pm in the Knights Ferry Community Club. The 8th grade graduation starts at 7pm at the school and friends and family are invited into the multipurpose room for cake and punch. The kindergarteners are Sara Alvear Bamaca, Gwendolyn Booth, Tylie Borba, Caitlyn Canterbury, Cole Dugo, Elizabeth Goff, Luciana Gonzalez, Trinity Holman, Ema Houser, Thea McGinnes, Carson Merritt, James Neely, Avignon Poncabare, Aria Rose, Hadley Sachau, Zoie Vierra, Reagan Vilson, Reilly Wilson, and Autumn Wucherer. The 8th graders are Benjamin Cassinetto, Jessica Martinez, River McCarthy, Chayton Brockman, Carter Sturtevant, Deagan Sweet, Vincent Peterson, Xavier Olivera, Grace Harden, Nathan Cabanero, Charlie Leon, Justin Santillanes, and Alexa Boyajian.
