The residents of Astoria Senior Living in Oakdale continue to enjoy drives around the community, having the chance to ‘get out’ for a little trip on board the bus as the region continues to navigate through the pandemic. Many residents have been supportive, with many displaying hearts, teddy bears and signs of encouragement for the seniors, and any other passersby, to see in hopes of brightening their day. Laci Leal, the Life Enrichment Director at Astoria is encouraging everyone to join the effort, especially sharing hearts. She said the Astoria residents know people are thinking of them when they see the hearts on front doors and she also said it is a good activity to help keep kids engaged in a worthwhile project, crafting the hearts and decorating them.
