Nominees in all categories have been announced and final plans are being put in place for the annual Oakdale Chamber of Commerce Awards Dinner, set for Friday, Feb. 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The dinner will be hosted at the Gene Bianchi Community Center, 110 S. Second Ave., Oakdale. Cost to attend is $50 per person or $400 for a VIP table for eight.
“These outstanding businesses, organizations, and individuals have gone above and beyond to make Oakdale a stronger, more vibrant community,” said Chamber officials. “Their hard work, dedication, and leadership deserve to be recognized.”
The Lifetime Achievement Award recipient – Steve Medlen of Medlen’s House of Beef – was revealed in advance and will be honored at the event. Award winners in the five other categories will be announced live as part of the Feb. 28 evening festivities.
Citizen of the Year – This category is open to any Oakdale resident who has made a major contribution of time and energy toward improving the local quality of life. This year’s nominees are: Ami Poncabare Silfer, Christopher Smith, Danielle Sanders, Melvin Bradley and Nicole Torre.
Junior Achievement Award – Open to any Oakdale student whose efforts have made a positive impact on the community and who is an exemplary role model for others. Nominated are: Brody Lev, Landon Arnold and Madison Mattos.
The Young Professional of the Year Award – Highlights an emerging leader/young professional, not older than 30, who exemplifies excellence, integrity, and initiative in his or her profession and is a business role model. Garrison Gerber and Grayson Haydn-Myer are this year’s nominees.
Business of the Year – Awarded to any formally recognized Oakdale business that has made a deliberate and focused effort, by its nature or through a specific project, to improve the local quality of life while maintaining a rigorous standard of work excellence. Nominated for the award this year are: Essentra Heating & Air, Inc., Tango Kennels, ‘Ike Loa Candle Co., and Foxy Designs.
Non-Profit/Service Club of the Year – This category is open to any formally recognized non-profit or service group that has made a concentrated effort through its nature or a specific project toward the betterment of Oakdale. Nominees in the category this year include: Oakdale Enrichment Society, Oakdale Lions Club, Rotary Club of Oakdale, Central Valley Association of Realtors and Oakdale Sunrise Rotary Club.
