The Oakdale Garden Club (OGC) and the City of Oakdale are co-hosting their Annual Festival of Trees event at Wood Park on Friday, Nov. 23. The lighting ceremony of some 28 brightly decorated artificial trees, each sponsored by local businesses and/or individuals, will begin at 5 p.m.

The Oakdale Garden Club will provide the already lighted trees, while sponsors are asked to provide decorations of their choosing, whether traditional or theme-related. Cost for each tree is $25 and decorating must be done on Friday, Nov. 23 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. in time for the Lighting Ceremony to be held at 5 p.m.

Each tree will have a sign, provided by the Oakdale Garden Club, with names of each individual sponsor written on a tall wooden candy cane placed adjacent to their tree. The trees will be continually displayed in Wood Park until Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019 at which time decorations must be taken down. Any decorations not collected by then will be considered a donation to the Oakdale Garden Club. The Club also recommends that owing to the fact that the trees will be displayed outdoors, decorations should be able to withstand any changes in the weather.

Those applying for trees are asked to do so by Friday, Nov. 16. The fee of $25 must also be paid by that date.
