Valley Art Association is gearing up for its annual show and fundraiser.

The event is planned in early March, said VAA Treasurer Steve Park.

“After many years and moving to Oakdale, we have changed the name of the Carriage Art Show to the ‘Oakdale Spring Art Show’,” Park explained. “We are having our annual Oakdale Spring Art Show and Scholarship Fundraiser Silent Auction. We are sponsored by the City of Oakdale and have our show at the Gene Bianchi Community Center in Oakdale.”

The address is 110 S. Second Ave.

The public exhibit of artwork is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, March 9 and 10. This family friendly event is admission free. Saturday show hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a reception from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

“This is a Juried show with cash and ribbon awards for 11 classes of art and sponsorship awards and Mayor’s Award,” Park added.

Artwork submission dates for the show are Thursday, March 7 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday, March 9 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Artists interested in participating are asked to email the organization to obtain a Prospectus for the show. All art must be original works appropriate for the general public and all ages viewing. Artists entering the show must be over 18 years old. Send a request to ValleyArtAssociation@gmail.com.

“We are a non-profit organization and have been promoting the arts since 1972. The Valley Art Association is an organization of artists from Oakdale, Escalon, Riverbank and Modesto,” Park explained. “VAA promotes appreciation of fine art in the community through this Juried Art show. This event is our major fundraiser which enables us to award our annual scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are moving on to higher education in art.”

All proceeds from the Silent Auction hosted in conjunction with the event go to the scholarship fund. Bidding in the silent auction starts Saturday, March 9 at 10 a.m. and runs through Sunday, March 10 at 3:30 p.m. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted for silent auction payment. There will be items from local merchants, goods and services, original works of art, gift baskets and more included in the silent auction.

Tax-deductible donations are also gladly accepted; contact the Show Chairman Dana Jetton at 209-496-6264; President Marilyn Zinner at 209-581-8876; or Treasurer Park at 209-681-4066.
