Friday, May 18 was a pleasant morning for a field trip. The third grade classes at Magnolia Elementary took advantage of such a morning for a fun, end of the year activity.

The third graders got in touch with their Oakdale roots by taking a walking field trip. They first started exploring at the Oakdale Museum, then made their way to the Oakdale Fire Station at 325 E. G St.

At the fire station, students received a tour of the living quarters, got to explore the trucks and boats, all while members of the Fire Department gave them safety tips and quizzes, with the chance for students to ask questions at the end. They also received special firefighter helmets to wear during the rest of the tour.

Students, teachers, and chaperones then made their way along G Street and turned the corner to the Oakdale Public Library on South First Avenue for a tour and a chance to get their own library cards.

Ms. Clarke, Mr. Fyke, Mr. Heim, and Ms. May’s classes were all in attendance for the museum, fire station, and library day of fun.
