Oakdale High School earned first place honors for the third consecutive year and 21st cumulative year at the 44th annual Stanislaus County Academic Decathlon, hosted Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024.

In addition to being named the overall winner, the competing team of nine Oakdale students also captured the title of Super Quiz winner. Individual medals were scooped up by both competing team members, as well as team alternates.

Individual results for the competition are as follows.

 

Essay top scores were: Joseph Yakligian, Honors Bronze; Carter Franca, Scholastic Bronze; Julia Chavez, Varsity Silver and Evelyn Acker, Varsity Fourth. Alternate: Anthony Salazar, Fourth.

 

Category of Speech top scores were: Iyska Rangel, Honors Silver; Carter Franca, Scholastic Gold; Julia Chavez, Varsity Gold; Jacob Johnson, Varsity Silver and Evelyn Acker, Varsity Fourth.

 

In the Interview Category top scores were: Jacob Johnson, Varsity Fourth and Evelyn Acker, Varsity Fifth.

 

Mathematics top scores were: Joseph Yakligian Honors Gold; Iyska Rangel, Honors Fifth; Carter Franca, Scholastic Gold and Daniella Guido, Scholastic Silver.

The competing team will now prepare for the in-person State Competition to be hosted in late March in Santa Clara.
