Arraignment Set For Murder Suspect
stan county court

Monday, Aug. 19 is the date for an arraignment scheduled for Bill Thomas Schendel, 55, who has been ordered to stand trial in the death of Aimee Eddington-Crawford.

A Stanislaus County Superior Court Judge ruled last week that there was sufficient evidence to try Schendel for the murder of the 40-year-old Knights Ferry woman, identified as his girlfriend. She was found deceased in her home and authorities indicated she died from blunt force trauma, her body discovered on May 1, 2018.

Schendel was involved in an auto accident that same day just outside Escalon in what authorities said may have been a deliberate crash.

Schendel remains in the Stanislaus County Jail on $2.5 million bail, facing a charge of murder.
