Oakdale’s Gene Bianchi Community Center at 110. S. Second Ave., in the Oakdale Town Plaza, will be the host site for two special upcoming events. Both are designed to benefit the community.
First up, the Oakdale Enrichment Society (OES) will take over the Bianchi Center as the organization hosts its Eighth Annual Community Closet event on Saturday, Aug. 23. Hours for this unique ‘shopping’ opportunity are from 9 a.m. to noon.
Volunteers have been busy taking in donations and organizing them so those attending will be able to quickly find their clothing size. The annual event is open to all in the community and offers free new and gently used clothing, shoes, backpacks and more. There is no income requirement. All are welcome.
Those coming to the Community Closet are asked to bring a bag for their selections if at all possible. The program gives residents a chance to choose clothing for work and school, or just to have some new items to wear. For more information, visit their Facebook page “Oakdale Enrichment Society.”
Later on in the month, the Community Center will be set up for job seekers, with an afternoon career fair on the schedule for Wednesday, Aug. 27. Hours for that will be 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
There is no cost to attend; participating employers are scheduled to include Sons Construction, Oakdale Joint Unified School District, Oak Valley Hospital District, California Natural Products, caregiver to you, and Valley Milk, LLC, among others. All job seekers in the area are encouraged to attend. Discover career positions in health care, hospitality, manufacturing and more.
The career fair is being co-hosted by the Oakdale Chamber of Commerce, Opportunity Stanislaus and the City of Oakdale.
