Last Call For Art

Delicato Family Wines is hosting its 33rd Fine Art Show and entries are currently being sought but the deadline is fast approaching. Artists who would like to participate in the art show can submit entries to the Delicato Tasting Room through Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023. An application may be obtained by phoning 209-824-3678/209-824-3501; e-mailing Laurie.bacigalupi@delicato.com or by visiting the Tasting Room in Manteca. It is also posted on the Tasting Room website at www.dfvtastingroom.com. Up to five pieces per artist may be entered in the competition, at a cost of $9 per entry. The Fine Art Show is open to entries by the creators of original art produced within the last three years. The exhibit itself will run from Saturday, Feb. 4 through Saturday, Feb. 25.

 

Garden Club Meeting

The February meeting of the Escalon-Farmington Community Garden Club is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 2 at 1 p.m., hosted at the Escalon United Methodist Church, 2000 Jackson Ave., Escalon. Speaker will be Ron Crump and his topic will be ‘Pollination and Pollinators for our Garden Beauties.’ The general club meeting will follow the guest speaker; there will also be snacks, raffles and a door prize drawing.

 

February Quilt Guild Session

The Oakdale Quilters Guild is a non-profit group organized for charitable and educational purposes. The February meeting will be on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m., with members of the guild gathering at Blossom Quilting, 7450 River Road, Oakdale. In addition, the special February class will be a Cathedral Window Flag Class at Blossom Quilting on Saturday, Feb. 25. Available spots are limited and filling up quickly; if interested in attending the class, call 209-345-3357 or email oakdalequiltersguild@gmail.com. Journey Revisited

There’s still time to get tickets for the next show at West Side Theatre, 1331 Main St., Newman. On Saturday, Jan. 21 at 8 p.m., a performance is scheduled by the classic group, Journey Revisited. Journey Revisited dedicates themselves to replicating the sound of classic Journey through their spectacular live performances. These exceptional musicians cover all of the Journey fan favorites and without pre-recorded backing tracks or digital vocal enhancements.

 

Lions Club Run

The Oakdale Lions Club is hosting the 31st annual Don Osborne Memorial Run, with registration being taken now. Both a 5k run and a one-mile run/walk will be offered with race day set for Saturday, Feb. 4. The race begins and ends at the William Meyer Park area, at East G Street and South Second Avenue, Oakdale, behind the Oakdale Library. The course is on flat, paved city streets with traffic control provided. The run is held, rain or shine, and pre-registration costs are $20 for adults, $10 for children ages nine to 18; under nine run for free. Race day registration is $25. Make checks payable to: Oakdale Lions Club and mail to P.O. Box 550, Oakdale, CA 95361. TOPS Group Meets

All interested are welcome to join TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) a weight loss support group that meets in Oakdale every Monday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.; they have a new location for 2023, meeting at 7450 River Road, Suite 4, Oakdale. This group is open to the public and anyone interested in improving their life by losing weight can contact Audrey for more information, call 209-765-7838.

 

Enjoy Accordion Music

The Good Time Accordion Club members meet on a regular basis, the first Sunday of the month at 2:30 p.m., hosted at the Escalon United Methodist Church, 2000 Jackson Ave., Escalon. Admission is $5; there are free refreshments provided. The club presents musicians of all levels and many musical styles. Anyone can bring an accordion and play or just come to enjoy listening to the musical performances. The 2023 gatherings are scheduled for Feb. 5, March 5, April 2, May 7, June 4, July 2, Aug. 6, Sept. 3, Oct. 1, Nov. 5 and Dec. 3.

 

Golden Agers Dance

Check out the Golden Agers dance group at the Riverbank Community Center on Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with dancing, socializing, live music and fun for all. All adults 55-plus are welcome. Just drop in to check it out or become a member. Fees are $5 for members and $6 for non-members. Membership is $15. The Community Center is at 3600 Santa Fe St., Riverbank.

 

Support Group Meets

Oakdale Widowed Persons Group invites you to join them the first Saturday of each month for breakfast at 9 a.m. and on the third Tuesday of each month for lunch at 1 p.m.; call for locations. All are welcome to join the group no matter how long ago you lost your spouse. For more information, contact Barbara at 209-322-2184.
