Christmas Tree Pick-Up Scheduled For January
ct

Oakdale residents can take advantage of the annual Christmas tree pick-up service, offered through the city via Gilton Solid Waste Management.

Gilton will operate the pick-up beginning on Monday, Jan. 6 and running through Friday, Jan. 17. Residents should put their tree out for pick up the same day as their garbage collection day and allow anywhere from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the pick-up.

Some helpful tips offered for the pick-up program: Place Christmas trees in front of the house, on the street surface next to the curb and a minimum of six feet away from cars or refuse cans. Also, remove all metal stands, lights and ornaments; wood stands are okay to leave with the tree. Flocked, painted or fire retardant treated trees can be cut up and placed in your trash can. This isn’t a requirement, but it is the preferred method of disposal for those types of trees.

Residents are asked not to place trees in alleys – even in if you have alley garbage service – and do not place them on driveways or vacant lots. Also, the city requests that residents do not put trees out for pick up until the start of the program on Jan. 6.
