American Veterans First (AVF) is preparing for another trip to the Ukraine on a humanitarian mission. They will be taking some supplies with them but what they can take is limited. With shipping issues and the expense the group decided to purchase items once they are overseas. They are accepting monetary donations to provide essentials to the people in the Ukraine.
Members from AVF will meet a team in Poland and then they will cross the border to the Ukraine to deliver the goods. There have been a few trips that already have been made and another underway this week as members from AVF packed and prepped for their trip this week.
One member noted that they are not mercenaries and are on a humanitarian mission only to help the innocent people caught in the devastation from the invasion of Russia. This is a long way for some members of our local community to go to help others and a very dangerous war zone.
AVF has been headquartered in Riverbank since 2016 and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. From the beginning the group of volunteers has had a focus to assist veterans with programs like the coat and blanket drive, Pets 4 Vets, Sail for Recovery, care packages, the hygiene pack giveaway and distribution of wheelchairs and scooters. Their ideas, efforts and collaborations continue and now they are extending their reach to help the people in the Ukraine.
The members of AVF believe in peace and freedom and one of the members shared that they could not sit back and do nothing, so they chose to put ‘boots on the ground’ in the Ukraine for this humanitarian mission.
They will purchase a number of essentials including baby wipes, diapers, flashlights, solar batteries, first aid, clothing and personal care items. For those interested in donating, visit AmericanVeteransFirst.net and click the donate button.
