Authorities gather for corridor groundbreaking

Stanislaus County First District Supervisor Buck Condit addresses a crowd at the July 8 Groundbreaking Ceremony for a new phase one of the North County Corridor. It will stretch from Roselle Avenue to Claus Road at the Riverbank Industrial Complex, with an overpass for the OID canal, Terminal Road and the BNSF railroad tracks. Representatives from Caltrans, the City of Modesto, Stanislaus County Supervisors, LAFCo, StanCOG and other groups joined together to review the longstanding history of the project, then grab shovels to symbolically turn over the first pile of dirt.
