This discovery changed the land forever when thousands of people came to the area to “strike it rich.” Local residents are invited to help commemorate this monumental event in Columbia’s history and celebrate with Columbia State Historic Park officials to celebrate why the town exists and how it grew into one of the richest Gold Rush era towns in California’s history.
