Season two high school sports teams are practicing and preparing for competition after a year of absence. Season two will feature track and field, girls tennis, baseball, softball, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls water polo, wrestling, boys and girls basketball and volleyball. Here is a quick glance at the upcoming season for the Mustangs. Football has already had one contest.
Track and field begins Wednesday, March 31 when East Union comes to town with events scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. Girls tennis is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, April 6 at Kimball with a 3:30 p.m. start time. Baseball begins on Tuesday, March 30 when they travel to play Ripon at Mistlin Park at 4 p.m. Softball was scheduled to begin their season on Monday, March 22 when they were scheduled to face Tracy following The Leader press time. Oakdale is scheduled to host Merced on Friday, March 26 at 4 p.m. Soccer kicks off in late April when the boys host Weston Ranch on April 20 and the girls are scheduled to open April 21 in a home match against Weston Ranch. Friday, April 16 boys and girls water polo hit the pool when they are scheduled to take on Kimball beginning at 4 p.m. Wrestling is scheduled to begin on April 21 when they host Manteca.
Basketball schedules were still being finalized upon The Leader’s press time. Oakdale football has week two action on the road this Friday night at Sierra. Volleyball takes the court on April 26 when they host Central Catholic with a 4 p.m. start time.
